20 September 2024WiZelle Kritzinger is pursuing her Master of Philosophy in Economics at the University of Pretoria, with a strong interest in energy and environmental economics, particularly energy poverty. She is currently a research assistant for a transdisciplinary project at the university’s Economic and Management Sciences Faculty, focused on addressing energy poverty.
Her thesis explores how institutional quality shapes the relationship between economic growth and energy poverty in sub-Saharan Africa. Through her research, she aims to uncover the key factors that make economic growth more effective in reducing energy poverty. Additionally, WiZelle has presented her work at the International Association for Energy Economics’ 45th International Conference in Türkiye.
WiZelle’s passion for this topic is driven by a desire to improve lives through enhanced energy access, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, where energy poverty has far-reaching socio-economic effects. She believes that innovative, integrated solutions are essential for making a real difference in this field.
